Despite a brace from midfielder Emma Yolinsky, who scored goals in the 14th and 47th minutes, the No. 15 ranked TCU soccer team couldn’t overcome a strong offensive effort from No. 18 Alabama in a 3-2 defeat at Tuscaloosa. Eres Freifeld assisted Yolinsky’s second goal for the Horned Frogs (1-1-1), who fell behind when the Crimson Tide posted a goal in the 54th minute. Olivia Geller collected four saves for the TCU defense.
Alabama outshot the Horned Frogs 15-9 and 6-4 on goal. TCU finished with a slight 6-5 edge on corner kicks, but the team couldn’t convert an equalizer late in the second half. The Crimson Tide took a 1-0 lead on a penalty kick in the seventh minute and capitalized on a TCU own goal in the 16th minute. The Horned Frogs held a mild lead on possession time, owning the ball for 53% of the match compared to Alabama’s 47%.
