TCU football is moving closer to its 2026 season opener against North Carolina in Dublin, Ireland on Aug. 29. As the Countdown to Kickoff continues, we’ll highlight a former Horned Frog whose jersey number coincided with the number of days remaining until the opener. At No. 6 is former TCU running back Andre Davis!
Davis played in 38 games over four seasons, rushing for 3,182 yards and 21 touchdowns while averaging 5.0 yards per carry. Davis made plays as a receiver as well, bringing in 114 catches for 1,084 yards and five scores during his college career. During the 1994 season, Davis totaled over 2,000 yards of offense, rushing for a career-high 1,494 yards on 220 carries and catching a career-high 47 passes for 522 yards. Davis, who accounted for a combined 10 offensive touchdowns that season, helped lead TCU to a Southwest Conference co-championship.
Davis, who exceeded 800 rushing yards in both the 1993 and 1995 seasons, was suspended four games in 1995 for receiving improper benefits through an agent via his roommate. Davis was named a Third-Team All-American and shared SWC Offensive Player of the Year with quarterback Max Knake during the 1994 season. Davis graduated from TCU in 1996 after leading the program in rushing over three straight seasons.
