Michigan State announced Monday morning that they are bringing on Dan Bartholomae to be its new athletic director. Bartholomae had been the most rumored name in this job search, and in the end, those rumors proved to be valid.

Bartholomae had been serving in the same role at Western Michigan since the beginning of 2022. Prior to being in Kalamazoo, he held the position of executive deputy athletic director at Oregon State University for 5 years. (Hmm. I am curious to ask him his thoughts on Jonathan Smith.)
For more on our new AD, check out his bio on the WMU Athletics website while it is still up. Most impressively, from an accomplishment standpoint, the Broncos won the national championship in hockey in 2024-25, and the football team won the MAC championship at the end of the 2025 season.
