A Beltline Pizza Window Serves Slices Heaping With Pimento Cheese and Burrata

Glide Pizza feels far more an Atlanta slice shop than a New York pizzeria. Sure, the foldable slices nod to the Northeast, but toppings like pimento cheese, hot honey, and pickled hot peppers, plus ranch for dunking, make this beloved Beltline spot unmistakably 404.

What to order

  • The cult-favorite is the hot honey burrata ($7.50 a slice) with massive pillows of burrata strewn across the pizza with fresh basil, and a slick of Mike’s Hot Honey that lands sweet, spicy, and rich.
  • My favorite is the Homegrown ($5 slice), a distinctly Southern slice topped with pimento cheese, cremini mushrooms, and scallions. It eats almost like a biscuit in pizza form, all creamy cheddar tang and savory depth. Order a side of the house ranch or take home a 12-ounce bottle ($8).
  • The 3000 ($5), piled with pork sausage and red onions, is hearty, while classic cheese and pepperoni ($4.50) prove Glide gets the fundamentals right.

The vibe

The wood-paneled takeout window at Glide is a buzzing corner in Old Fourth Ward. You order fast and listen for your name at the pick-up window, before proceeding to the tiny patio with bar seating by the railing. There is some cafeteria-style seating inside, too. Glide is a casual affair, but the dough is serious. A 48-hour ferment lends to just the right sourness in the dough and great leoparding from even heating. Crack a PBR while you wait.

Insider tip

All 20-inch pies come with a side of pickled serrano peppers and ranch. There is an additional location in Decatur, and a new one headed to South Downtown. Weekends can mean lines, so come early, grab a pie to-go, and head to the Beltline.
