‘Trusted member of community' arrested for lewd conduct with teen, Miami-Dade Sheriff says

A man who Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office officials described as a “trusted member of the community” has been arrested for alleged lewd conduct on a teen girl, officials said.

Shaya Lunger, 54, was arrested on March 25 on a charge of lewd and lascivious conduct on a child, Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office officials said Wednesday.

Lunger is a community activist and works with a local non-profit, records showed.

According to an arrest report, Lunger had entered the 15-year-old girl’s room and closed the door back on March 19.

He told her to “put away her sexy things,” referring to her “breast area,” then hugged her and kissed her multiple times, the report said.

Lunger had also “expressed a desire for the victim to turn eighteen (18) years old on multiple interactions with the victim,” the report said.

Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Bureau detectives were made aware of the incident on March 24 and interviewed the teen before arresting Lunger, officials said.

The sheriff’s office said Lunger, also known as “Yona,” is considered a trusted member of the community, and has access to minors.

Detectives are urging anyone who may have been victimized by Lunger to come forward and contact the Special Victims Bureau at 305-715-3300.
