
A deputy was hospitalized after a suspect who fled a traffic stop crashed into them in southwest Miami-Dade Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
The incident happened in the area of Southwest 224th Street and Southwest 115th Avenue in Goulds.
Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office officials said deputies were trying to stop the vehicle but the suspect attempted to flee, ran a stop sign, and crashed into a sheriff’s office vehicle.
The suspect was taken into custody. Officials haven’t released their identity or said what charges they face.
The deputy was taken to a local hospital as a precaution, officials said.
Aerial footage from Chopper 6 showed a vehicle that crashed through a fence flipped onto its roof in a home’s backyard.
Another vehicle was also nearby with heavy damage.
No other details were immediately known.
