Comment on Steelers Have To Change Their Ways To Stay Relevant, Glazer Says: ‘Mike T Really, Really Covered Up A Lot’ by Independent73
Back in the 1960's/1970's, the Steelers took an innovative approach to scouting by focusing on HBCU and small college prospects, that helped build the famous Steel Curtain defense. It also helped to have the #4 overall pick (Joe Greene) in 1969. And the #1 overall pick (Terry Bradshaw) in 1970. It also helped to bring in a young head coach (Chuck Noll, 37 yrs old) in 1969, to set a new tone for the new young players. I mention this because sometimes the past gives you a recipe for the future... - Hire Chris Shula. - Use more analytics and modern schemes to establish a system. - Trade down in the 1st round this year to pick up a future 1st rounder. - Use all those mid rounders to fill out our OL and prep for our new QB. - Start Howard at QB in 2026 to see what he's got. - If he's promising, great. If not, that means we get a high draft pick. - Use the two 1st rounders to draft a franchise QB + elite weapon in 2027. - Use the extra cap room to fill any weaknesses. Complete rebuild in 2 years. Just like the Patriots did.
