While all of that is true, you're neglecting all of the key players that did carry over, along with the OC and DC. He won with a fair amount of Cowher's team, though he was good enough to get it done. Both things can be true at the same time.
What sucks is that he never had as much playoff success later on in his career, after all of Cowher's people were gone. I'd say he was a good coach, but not one of the all-time greats. I'd consider him a better person and mentor than coach.
