22-year-old man shot, killed in Meriden: Police
A 22-year-old man is dead after a shooting on Monday afternoon in Meriden, police said. Police said the shooting happened just after noon on Cook Avenue and Summer Street. When officers got to the scene, they found the man with at least one gunshot wound. He was rushed to MidState Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. He’s not been identified at this time. Investigators were at the scene for more than eight hours. When they left, NBC Connecticut crews saw people who said they were the family of the man who died leave candles at the scene. Police did not name any suspects but said investigators do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public.

Police search for vehicle that crashed into Bethany town garage and drove off
State police are searching for the driver of a vehicle that crashed into Center Station Garage on Amity Road in Bethany overnight, the town of Bethany said. The vehicle caused heavy damage to the building and left the scene around 12 a.m. Monday, according to the Town of Bethany’s Facebook. Police are looking for a 2025 Ford F250 or F350 with heavy front-end damage, the town said in the post. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Connecticut State Police at 203-393-4200.

$50,000 worth of jewelry stolen from store in Connecticut Post Mall, police say
Two people stole about $50,000 worth of jewelry from the Connecticut Post Mall on Saturday, Milford police said. At 6:21 p.m., officers said they responded to multiple reports of shots fired in the mall. When they arrived, they said no shots were fired but found three jewelry cases smashed. The people entered through the Macy’s entrance with hammers and broke the case, according to police. No injuries were reported, police said.
