
A 22-year-old man is dead after a shooting on Monday afternoon in Meriden, police said.
Police said the shooting happened just after noon on Cook Avenue and Summer Street. When officers got to the scene, they found the man with at least one gunshot wound.
He was rushed to MidState Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. He’s not been identified at this time.
Investigators were at the scene for more than eight hours. When they left, NBC Connecticut crews saw people who said they were the family of the man who died leave candles at the scene.
Police did not name any suspects but said investigators do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public.
