LEGO’s New SMART Brick Brings Playtime to a Whole New Level
In what could be described as one of the more pleasant surprises that we’ve seen at CES 2026, the LEGO Group (yes, that LEGO group) took the wraps off LEGO SMART Play, a new upgrade that allows physical builds to respond to play in real time. The platform centers around the LEGO SMART Brick, which features a custom-made chip, motion sensors, and even a miniature speaker. LEGO says that these components allow creations to react to movement and interaction with synchronized sounds and behaviour, all while maintaining compatibility with existing LEGO sets. The system also uses LEGO SMART Tags and interactive Minifigures that communicate with the central brick to trigger specific storytelling moments. According to LEGO, the new system represents one of the company’s biggest developments since the 1978 launch of the Minifigure, blending new technology with traditional brick building. The first sets to feature this technology will launch within the LEGO Star Wars line on March 1, 2026. The platform is designed to be expandable, and LEGO plans future updates and new hardware to grow the system over time. XGIMI’s MemoMind Glasses come with AI and a Modular Design
It’s safe to say that there’s no shortage of cool tech products at this year’s CES 2026 convention, with tons of brands showcasing the latest hardware (and software that they have to offer). That in mind, XGIMI—usually known for its projectors—unveiled MemoMind, its new line of AI-powered wearables. The lineup includes two models, one of which is the flagship Memo One with dual-eye displays and built-in speakers for both visual and audio interaction. There’s also the more minimalist Memo Air Display which weighs only 28.9 grams and uses a single-eye monocular display to provide essential information. Both models are powered by a hybrid operating system that can select between a handful of AI models (such as OpenAI, Azure, or Qwen) to handle tasks like real-time translation, note-taking, and contextual reminders. In addition to the AI features, the new MemoMind wearables will come with a modular design with eight frame styles and five interchangeable temples, allowing users to better personalize their look with support for full prescription lenses. The MemoMind glasses also feature batteries that can last a full day and a charging case that extends total use to an entire week. The Memo One is expected to be available for preorder soon at a price of approximately $599, with additional models to be launched at later dates.
