The Miami Dolphins’ Week 1 performance left much to be desired as they lost 27-13 to the Las Vegas Raiders. They face a tough test in Week 2 against the San Francisco 49ers as they hope to rebound. The Dolphins are young, unproven, and still growing together as a team. Will a week of being together in California, staying out west between the two road games rather than returning to Florida, allow the team to develop a better chemistry and lead to better execution?
Predictions for the Dolphins’ 2026 season have only worsened after Week 1’s performance. Miami seems like a lock for the first-overall pick, with the possibility of an 0-17 season growing, at least according to the analysts. The 49ers, meanwhile, are considered a top-ten team in the league, one which should be eyeing a deep run the postseason. Two teams on opposite ends of the spectrum meet in Santa Clara tomorrow, and Miami does not look like it has much of a chance, at least according to the latest odds.
Here are some predictions for Sunday’s game:

Dolphins (+13.5) at 49ers
Last week, I thought Miami could pull off the upset and leave Las Vegas with a victory. This week, I just want them to stay competitive. This does not look like a great day for the team or the fans.
San Francisco is the better team and should be able to prove it early. Can the Dolphins keep it close? They will have to play better in all three phases of the game (especially on special teams) if they want to at least stay within the point spread – the only double-digit spread in the league this week.
Assuming Miami realizes they have to get running back De’Von Achane more involved than he was last week (11 carries, 36 yards, 4 receptions, 30 yards), the offense should have a little better day this week. The Dolphins’ goal for this year is to get better each week – hopefully that happens.
I will take the points to cover for Miami, but the 49ers should win straight up.
Prop Bets
Malik Willis passing yards: 183.5
Over: -114
Under: -114
Willis threw for 220 yards last week and, given Miami will likely be playing from behind for much of this game, he should have a similar total this week. The Dolphins know they have to get Achane involved more than they did last week, but that could include using him as a receiving option as they try to stay within striking distance. I will take the over.
De’Von Achane rushing & receiving yards: 90.5
Over : -115
Under: -113
Achane must be the focal point of the Dolphins’ offense, and they have to get him touches. I like this prop better than Achane’s 58.5 rushing yards line because I think Miami may have to lean more on the passing game than they would like. Achane could get heavy usage as a receiver out of the backfield and in the slot. I will take the over because Achane should top 100 yards if Miami has a chance in this game.
Greg Dulcich receptions: 2.5
Over: +134
Under: -180
The spotlight for the passing game last week was on rookie wide receiver Caleb Douglas, who blew past the 2.5-reception line set for him, catching five passes for 94 yards (and, of course, I thought he would have a quiet first game, hitting the under). Tight end Greg Dulcich caught two passes for 18 yards against the Raiders. Again, I think the Dolphins will have to pass the ball to stay with the 49ers, which should lead to plenty of targets for all of Miami’s receiving options. I will go with the over here with Willis using Dulcich as a check-down option.
Zach Sieler records a sack
Record a sack: +148
I do not recommend this prop. The Dolphins need a big performance from Sieler, especially since edge rusher Chop Robinson has been ruled out, but the veteran has not been as impactful recently as he was in the past. It used to seem like whenever Miami needed a play, Sieler was there to make it. Now, Sieler seems to have lost a step. He can still make an impact, but it is hard to predict that, yes, he will record a sack.
