The NFL season started with a Super Bowl rematch, and unfortunately for Tar Heels and Patriots fans, it was another rough outing for Drake Maye.
The third-year quarterback completed 23-of-33 passes for 178 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions as his team lost 13-10.
In case you went to bed early (or were watching the US Open), Maye threw a 2-yard touchdown to Eli Raridon in the second quarter and led New England to a field goal on the opening drive of the third to go up 10-0. Things went downhill from there; the Patriots’ next four drives consisted of a three-and-out followed by three interceptions (meanwhile, Seattle put together three consecutive scoring drives to take the lead). The last interception is undoubtedly what people will be talking about today, as it came on a badly underthrown ball to the end zone with less than 30 seconds remaining.
