Garland Police are looking for the driver of a white pickup truck they say is involved in a hit-and-run crash that severely injured a 12-year-old boy riding an electric scooter.
Officials said the boy was crossing the street at North Garland Avenue and Apollo Road when the truck hit him.
The child is in stable condition but sustained significant injuries, police said.
After the crash, police said the driver continued eastbound on Apollo Road before turning south on North Garland Avenue. That’s where a camera on a business recorded the truck passing by at about 8:29 a.m. Video of the truck showed it had tall rails over the bed and a bicycle mounted on the rear. Police described the truck as a white Chevrolet Silverado-style work truck with an extended cab.
A detailed description of the driver was not provided by witnesses or police.
Garland Police said they want to hear from the driver to get their side of what happened. Police also urged potential witnesses to come forward, especially those who may have video of the crash. Investigators can be reached at 972-485-4840.
