Beautiful weather is on tap for the Chicago area, with dry conditions expected for several days and temperatures settling into the mid-to-upper 70s.
Swimmers should be alert, however, with a risk for life-threatening currents along Lake Michigan.
The day began with a couple of high, thin clouds, mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-60s. With winds out of the northwest around 8 miles per hour, it’ll likely feel nice, cool and comfortable throughout the day.
NBC 5 Storm Team Meteorologist Pete Sack said to expect plenty of sunshine throughout the morning, along with northwesterly breezes, comfortable temperatures and highs in the upper 70s.
However, there is a slight chance for an isolated thunderstorm in the afternoon.
Saturday evening looks great, with more picturesque weather continuing into Sunday morning.
North to northwest winds will lead to choppy conditions on Lake Michigan. The National Weather Service said they will result in building waves and dangerous rip currents at southern Lake Michigan beaches on both Saturday and Sunday.
Sack said the choppy waves could lead to a cancellation of the swimming portion of Sunday’s Chicago Triathlon.
Overall, highs are expected to reach the mid-70s on Sunday under partly cloudy skies as the nice weather continues.
As the workweek gets off to a start, Monday will begin and end the day with sunshine. Nice, quiet conditions will persist throughout the day with temperatures topping out in the mid-to-upper 70s under partly cloudy skies.
Tuesday looks pleasant as well, but Wednesday will bring a slight chance of storms along with temperatures in the low 80s. Both Thursday and Friday will see highs around the 80-degree mark, which is typical for this time of year.
