
It’s shameful that Hawaiian Electric is even considering extending the operating life of four outdated, dirty oil-burning plants that it previously agreed to shut down to help clear Hawaii’s air. And it’s especially shameful that the utility’s back-pedaling has been enabled by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, revealing a federal administration more concerned about making dirty fuel sources profitable than about clean air, land or water.
