I was being sarcastic since I have noted that you, Dave and Ross are occasionally critical when warranted, but that since your Depot team has expanded that overall criticism has dropped precipitously with homerism going up even though the Steelers don't grant you press access. DK and Steelers Now get press access and are far more balanced overall. I may drop dead of shock if Josh Carney or Joe Clark ever offered any criticism. Josh goes out of of his way to defend the front office or coaching staff in almost all cases. And since you folks came up with this absurdly dumb idea to include your personal opinions in literally every blog post even when aggregating someone else's opinion it often looks like you are Matlock defending bad decisions by the front office.
And you are definitely moving the goalposts in this draft class to do so. In your post-draft podcast the previous two years you rightly talked about the Steelers getting great value. This year you dismissed that and questioned what is value. That is moving the goalposts to use a Dave cliche. Even your defenses here are inconsistent. You wrote that Allar was a slight reach when he was a major reach. You refuse to recognize the weight of pick differentials in each round and did not respond when I asked if theoretically taking a guy with a 1st/2nd round projection at No. 10 overall would be a reach? How about if you took a borderline first-round pick at No. 1 overall? You could still wrongly claim he went in range using your argument. Again, Lance had 26 players projected as first-rounders and 10 more as first/second rounders. Taking a player in the second category is a reach. To argue otherwise shows a lack of understanding of weighted averages. I would guess that only Clayton Eckert among all your bloggers could comprehend this.
That said, I love this site as by far the best aggregator of all Steeler news (or basically anything said about them) and will always appreciate your work ethic on film sessions and especially on training camp play-by-play synopses. They may not give you a press pass, but you are working harder from the crowd than everyone from both papers combined in Latrobe.
