UK releases plans for Kroger Field upgrades

Kroger Field could be receiving some upgrades over the next few years.

At a Club Blue Board of Governors meeting on Thursday morning, seven upgrades for Kroger Field were announced, with work scheduled to begin over the next few years and projected to generate $4 million in annual revenue.

According to UK Athletics, these enhancements include:

  • North and South Upper Deck Seatbacks to enhance comfort and expand chairback availability.
  • Loge Club and Club Seat Infill to meet rising demand for elevated hospitality.
  • New terrace-style “back-of-bowl” seating to create flexible, social viewing areas.
  • Scoreboard Patio Clubs are adding standing-room-only premium space and new sponsorship inventory.
  • A West End Zone Field Club offering a modern membership-driven experience with year-round potential.

Seatbacks for the first several rows of the north upper deck are expected to be installed this offseason with other projects expected to get underway next offseason.

“These improvements are essential to remain competitive in an era defined by rapid change,” Mitch Barnhart told reporters. “We must continue to build sustainable resources that support our student athletes, coaches, and fans for years to come. The vision and enhancements outlined today reflect responsible planning and a clear commitment to excellence.”

With the recent success of concerts at Kroger Field, these improvements will also be key to bringing in more concerts and other events throughout the year.
