Rider hospitalized after being stabbed in head on SEPTA bus, officials say

An investigation is underway, officials said, after a rider was stabbed in the head during an altercation on SEPTA’s Route 55 bus in Cheltenham on Sunday morning.

According to police, the incident happened when riders along a SEPTA Route 55 bus were engaged in an altercation in the area of Old York Road and Breyer Drive in the Elkins Park section of Cheltenham Township at about 8:07 a.m. on Sunday.

In this incident, officials said, a man on the bus was stabbed in the head.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and while police did not immediately provide further information on the severity of the man’s injuries, they did say that he is expected to survive.

Officials said, following the attack, two suspects were apprehended in the area of Meetinghouse Road and Township Line Road after they fled from the bus.
