BYU Basketball Moves up in AP Poll after Kansas State Win

After nearly a month of staying at 10 in the AP Poll, BYU moved up a spot to 9 after the road win at Kansas State Saturday. BYU is one of seven Big 12 teams ranked along with Arizona (1), Iowa State (3), Houston (7), Texas Tech (14), Kansas (22), and UCF (25). Villanova, who BYU beat in the season opener, is the first team out of the poll at 26.

BYU has two winnable games this week when they host Arizona State Wednesday at play at Utah Saturday. BYU should be double digit favorites in both of those games. BYU then hosts TCU, which gives BYU a great chance to start Big 12 play 4-0 before heading to Texas Tech in what is currently a top 15 showdown.

BYU started the last two seasons 2-4 in Big 12 play, so starting off Big 12 play with a strong start would be a welcome change. BYU is in the midst of a 10-game winning streak, its longest since Jimmer’s senior year.
