A Connecticut high school student is turning his love for tennis into an opportunity to give back by collecting tennis rackets and pickleball paddles for people in Uganda.
William Scudder, a junior at Glastonbury High School, started a nonprofit called The Tennis Broz with his older brother, Alexander Scudder.
The brothers are collecting donated tennis rackets and pickleball paddles through Nov. 20. Once the drive ends, the equipment will be inspected, cleaned and sent to Uganda.
William Scudder said he’s been encouraged by the community’s response.
“I’m really surprised by how enthusiastic the tennis community is for helping. So many people are like, wow, we admire what you’re trying to do. So we’re going to try and help. And they’re really donating a lot.”
The Tennis Broz is partnering with Kindness for Kinless to help make the initiative possible.
So far, the brothers have collected 20 rackets.
