It’s been a trying couple of weeks for Tottenham Hotspur Women. They entered into a brutal three match stretch — home to London City, away to Chelsea, home to Arsenal — riding a wave of optimism, only to lose their first two matches in this stretch while conceding six goals in each match.
Things might be different today. Arsenal are still Arsenal — it’s a North London Derby, emotions will be high, and the Gunners are still favored despite a lousy run of form and a table position of 8th. Throw all that out the window. Tottenham Women will need to play well to get a result today, and if Spurs happen to win, it’ll only be the second win over Arsenal in club history. So yeah, this match is pretty big.
Spurs have the advantage of playing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium today, which should give them a boost, plus the crowd should be full and lively. But make no mistake — despite Arsenal’s recent struggles, a result today from Spurs would be MASSIVE. Let’s hope it happens.
