A West Haven man turned himself in on an active warrant, charging him in connection with a fatal crash in Somers in 2025.
The crash happened on Nov. 7 near Main Street and Sunset Drive. State police with Troop C were called to the scene around 7:30 p.m. on the report of a crash.
When troopers arrived, they found three vehicles, including a 1985 Chevrolet K10 light-duty truck driven by 66-year-old Donald Chairamonte. Other vehicles at the scene were a 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer and a 2022 Chrysler Voyager minivan.
State police said the Lancer was driving west on Main Street around 7:30 p.m. Chairamonte was leaving the driveway of a home on Main Street at the same time. As he entered the westbound lane, his truck crashed into the Lancer.
The Lancer then spun into the eastbound lane and hit the Voyager minivan, which was traveling eastbound at the time. The minivan crashed into the front lawn of a nearby home and hit a mailbox.
The driver of the Lancer, identified as 50-year-old Christian Nolan from Wales, Massachusetts, was found in the center of the road where first responders were giving him CPR. He was then flown to Hartford Hospital via Life Star. Police said he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Nolan died five days later from his injuries, police said.
A crash investigation found that Chairamonte at fault for the crash and was charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle and failing to grant the right of way. Chairamonte turned himself in to Troop C on Thursday and is expected to appear in court on Nov. 3.
