Respect is coming slowly, if at all, for the Browns so far in 2026: Big betting line change

The 2026 NFL season has a long way to go before completion. The results in Week 7 will not define the season, per se, but could go a long way for many teams, including the Cleveland Browns. A win versus the Tennessee Titans would run HC Todd Monken’s squad’s record to 5-2 with a high probability of being in the playoff conversation all year.

Despite the quality record and wins versus four teams expected to compete for the NFL playoffs prior to the season, the Browns continue to linger low in power rankings and see very minimal betting line respect week in and week out.

While the week-to-week respect still seems to be lacking, the betting line respect for the season is growing, appropriately. Prior to the season, the over/under line for Cleveland was between 5.5 and 6.5 games at most markets. Higher expectations than the win totals the two previous seasons, but low compared to the rest of the NFL.

At this point, there are negative odds (bettors have to bet more than $100 to win $100) up to 8.5 wins (-150). The first positive odds (bettors win more than $100 when they bet $100) come at 9.5 wins (+260). FanDuel now believes that the Browns will at least win eight games this year, with a Week 7 win likely bumping that number up to a winning record of at least nine victories.

Despite that, Cleveland is still just a 1.5-point favorite on the road in Tennessee this week against a one-win Titans team whose win total expectation is hovering around five this season.

Week to week, the Browns continue to not be shown a lot of respect. Last week, I was the lone SB Nation expert to pick them to beat the Baltimore Ravens. This week, the tide is changing, with just two staff members picking against the Browns. Nationally, we are still seeing doubt about Cleveland’s chances in Week 7.

Despite that lack of week-to-week acknowledgement, expectations for the season have now risen quite significantly, and would rise again if the Browns can be successful on the road this week.

What do you think of the current 8.5 win over/under line? What do you think it will take before the Browns earn national respect? Would it come if they win in Week 7?
