A Hartford man was arrested on Wednesday and is accused of fleeing the scene after fatally striking a pedestrian in June, police said.
Hector Rodriguez, 29, is charged with manslaughter in the second degree, evading responsibility involving death, illegal operation of a motor vehicle under suspension, and illegally tinted windows.
On June 27 at around 3:48 a.m., 31-year-old Keyshia M. Ortiz-Benitez, of Hartford, was found by police in the road with serious, life-threatening injuries. She was transported to the hospital and later died of her injuries, according to police.
The vehicle involved fled from the scene southbound after the collision.
After an investigation, an arrest warrant was approved for Rodriguez. He turned himself in on Wednesday evening and was taken to the Hartford Police Detention facility for processing.
His bond is set at $100,000.
