Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NCAA. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Wisconsin fans and fans across the country.
Coming off a 17-7 loss to the UCLA Bruins, the Wisconsin Badgers will have to bounce back quickly against another West Coast team, as they take on the USC Trojans at Camp Randall Stadium this weekend.
Coming into the game, the Badgers are 2.5-point underdogs at home, facing a Trojans team with an explosive offense that has gone 6-1 thus far. However, many of USC’s wins to date have been uninspiring. They’re on a two-game win streak following their loss to Oregon, but they’ve played two disappointing teams in Washington and Penn State quite closely (25-21 and 31-23).
Apart from that, they also had a close 42-35 win over Rutgers and a few early-season wins where they won more comfortably, but the defense was exposed as a problem in the second half.
Despite switching coordinators, the Trojans continue to have problems defensively, and Lincoln Riley has been on many hot seat lists, even with his supposed $70+ million buyout. So this game is huge for both sides: the Badgers need a win to get back on the right track, while the Trojans can’t afford a loss in their hope of a College Football Playoff appearance.
