Delays reported in parts of Collin County as early voting gets underway

2026 Midterm Election

Early voting is underway in Texas, but some printer issues caused some delays in parts of Collin County on Monday morning, with some voters saying they had to leave because of the problems.

Viewers tell NBC 5 that some people who arrived to vote were turned away because of issues with the printers.

The Collin County election commissioner confirmed there were ballot printer issues at some early voting locations on Monday morning, but this was not a countywide issue. Around 10 locations were affected, but service has been restored.

NBC 5 received reports of issues at Liberty Rec Center in Plano. When NBC 5’s Larry Collins checked it out at 9:30 a.m., voters were freely moving into the location. Haggard Library was also operational.

It’s unclear how long the polls were affected and how many people were turned away or unable to vote.

Plano voters will decide on several new taxes for the proposed Willow Bend arena project, which would not raise the property tax rate. Residents could pay new taxes tied to tickets, parking, and more. The taxes would also apply to short-term rental cars and hotel stays across the city. The city could also charge a facility-use tax to teams that play there.

Early voting ends next Friday, Oct. 30.

The deadline to apply for a ballot by mail is this Friday, Oct. 23.

Election day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
