A tire fell off a car and shattered the windshield of another vehicle heading the opposite direction on the Edens Expressway on Friday morning, sending one person to the hospital, police said.
Around 10:26 a.m., one of the tires on a car being driven northbound on I-94 near Glenview Road in Skokie came off and struck the front windshield of a car traveling southbound, Illinois State Police said.
One person was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, police said, and the emergency response prompted a closure of the left and middle southbound lanes.
Video from the scene shows emergency responders working near a vehicle with a completely busted windshield.
The investigation remains ongoing and no additional information was immediately provided.
