Some Metra train lines to and from the Chicago suburbs were canceled Friday morning due to crew shortages.
Service alerts posted to Metra’s website Friday morning showed at least two Metra BNSF trains that were scheduled to depart from the western suburbs to Chicago’s Union Station would not operate.
According to the alert, BNSF train #1308 scheduled to depart Lisle at 7:08 a.m. and BNSF train #1306 scheduled to depart Aurora at 6:47 a.m. were both canceled.
Metra also warned of delays on inbound and outbound Union Pacific West trains due to a vehicle stuck on the tracks near Maywood.
No further details were provided.
The alerts come as Metra prepares for dozens of additional riders this weekend for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on Sunday, Oct. 11, with extra service planned for the Metra Electric, Milwaukee District North, Union Pacific Northwest and Union Pacific West lines.
