Directly blaming and putting the onus on the player traded, and not the front office who traded him, is exactly one of the ways the team owners control the media and relentlessly posit the players as the bad guys, when its the owners who are incompetent and corrupt. If everyone could note this, clock it, and be aware its happening, would fix a lot about USA sports fandom.
Over the last 20 years, USA sports fandom has been more about hating the athletes more than it is about celebrating them, and this is the direct result of letting corrupt talentless owners run the league.
