A 17-year-old girl died after she and a man were shot Saturday evening near the Petworth Metro station, authorities say.
Daniyah Ford, of Hyattsville, was the victim, D.C. police said Monday morning.
Gunfire erupted in the 3700 block of New Hampshire Avenue NW. Fourth District officers arrived at about 6:55 p.m. Ford and the man were taken to hospitals with gunshot wounds.

In an update Monday, police said Ford died of her injuries.
No detailed information on suspects was released. Anyone with potentially relevant information is asked to contact police. A reward of up to $25,000 is available.
