With the winter sports season inching closer, one of Maryland women’s basketball’s biggest stars of the last two decades earned a significant accolade. Former Terp Marissa Coleman was inducted into the Washington Metropolitan Basketball Hall of Fame Sunday.

Coleman was a dominant force in her four years in a Maryland uniform, finishing her career with over 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. The point forward received All-ACC honors four separate times – one of only four Terps to do so – and was taken second overall by the Washington Mystics in the 2009 WNBA draft.

Coleman went on to start 162 games over her 10 professional seasons, spending time with the Mystics, the Los Angeles Sparks and the Indiana Fever. She averaged 6.7 points a game along with 1.3 assists and 3.1 rebounds. She also made an All-Star team in 2015.

The Terps will host their first exhibition game against Virginia Tech on Oct. 19.
