The Cleveland Browns announced that they have placed LB Nathaniel Watson on the practice squad/injured list with a knee injury. A sixth-round pick in 2024, Watson was on injured reserve all of last season. Although he did not make the team this year, he was on the practice squad and had been elevated to the gameday roster for the first two games. The practice squad/injured list is similar to the short-term IR list, in the sense that it’s a temporary removal until he is ready to play again.
Taking Watson’s spot is LB Krys Barnes, who is in his seventh season in the NFL. He has spent most of his career with the Green Bay Packers, but last year, he was a member of the Carolina Panthers, who just so happen to be the Browns’ opponents this Sunday. Last year with the Panthers, Barnes made 3 starts and had 25 tackles with a 1/2 sack. We’ll see if Barnes ends up being a gameday elevation this Sunday, or if the Browns decide to call up someone else. Barnes was with the Washington Commanders briefly this training camp, but did not make their team.
