The Los Angeles Chargers are waking up in a bit of a pickle after losing to the Las Vegas Raiders at home in Week 2.
The identical 26-14 final score that they suffered last week against the Arizona Cardinals. The Chargers were gifted the chance to start 2-0 by facing off against arguably the two “easiest” teams on their schedule to start the season. Both the Cardinals and Raiders picked in the top three of the 2026 NFL Draft and weren’t viewed as contenders for the playoffs coming into the season. However, they were both able to beat the Chargers with ease in their own building.
Now the schedule is about to get a lot more difficult for the Chargers, which could spell the end of their season. Six of their next seven games on their schedule come against teams that were in the playoffs last season. The loan exception is the 2-0 Kansas City Chiefs, who were in the Super Bowl in Feb. 2025.
The Chargers will face a two-game road trip, traveling to Highmark Stadium to take on the Buffalo Bills and Lumen Field to take on the defending champion Seattle Seahawks, both of whom are 2-0. They’ll return home for one game against the Denver Broncos before heading back out on the road to face the Chiefs and their crosstown rival, the Los Angeles Rams. They’re back at home for a date with the Houston Texans before visiting Jesse Mentor and the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football. There’s a good chance the Chargers won’t be favored in any of these games, and if they were to lose all of them, it seals a losing season at 0-9.
Simply put, the Chargers have to wake up. Otherwise, this season is going to be over by the middle of the year.
