Brace yourselves, Green Bay Packers fans. Jonathan Vilma’s voice will soon be in your earholes.
The former NFL linebacker and much-maligned NFL color commentator is on the call for Sunday’s game between the Green Bay Packers and New York Jets, joined in the booth with his play-by-play announcer, Kenny Albert. The two make up one of the least-liked booths covering the NFL, and don’t just take my word for it — that’s science.
This week’s game takes place in the early Sunday window, one of only two Packers games kicking off at Noon Central time in the first half of the season. The second will be in two weeks, when Green Bay heads to Tampa to play the Buccaneers.
For many fans, that’s great news. Get the game out of the way and have the whole rest of your Sunday to do with as you please. But for others, in the many areas of the country that will not get this game on local FOX stations, it means a few hours spent at a bar or figuring out a Sunday Ticket subscription.
