The Washington Commanders are visiting the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, and they are 4.5-point underdogs. Both teams started their season with a division loss. The Commanders and Cowboys have new defensive coordinators this season, but Washington also switched offensive coordinators.
Jayden Daniels returned from an injury-shortened second season last week in a 24-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. He was working in a new scheme from new offensive coordinator David Blough. It was a slow start, but the offense had more success later in the game. The focus has been on working under center more, and protecting Daniels after last season. It’s a work in progress, and Blough will need to continue adjusting throughout the season.
Terry McLaurin had a quiet game last week working against Eagles CBs Quinyon Mitchell and Riq Woolen. Expect that to change against a Cowboys defense that looked like one of the worst in the league last week. Stefon Diggs and rookie Antonio Williams both scored touchdowns last week, and it’s time for Terry to join the touchdown party.
Bill Croskey-Merritt is Washington’s RB1 and there wasn’t much competition behind him vs the Eagles. Rachaad White will need to show a lot more in his second game with Washington or the fanbase, and coaches, will quickly be looking for his replacement. Expect Bill to be the rushing leader again this week unless he keeps putting the ball on the ground, giving rookie Kaytron “Fatman” Allen more snaps. Can Jayden Daniels get his first rushing touchdown of the season in Arlington?
