UPDATE: The Commanders formally announced the Lucas Patrick signing on Wednesday afternoon as part of a larger series of roster moves.
Washington moving linebacker Jordan Magee (hamstring) to injured reserve is the corresponding move for Patrick. There were also two new additions to the practice squad.
The Commanders are reportedly signing veteran interior offensive lineman Lucas Patrick, who has extensive experience playing center and both guard spots.

Patrick came to Washington’s training complex on Tuesday for a visit and the two sides ended up agreeing on a pact.
Patrick has 65 starts in 113 professional games, with time spent in Green Bay, Chicago, New Orleans and Cincinnati leading into this year. He spent training camp with the New York Giants, where he dealt with knee issues and lost the backup center job. He was cut when rosters were trimmed to 53.
The knee injury might’ve necessitated the facility visit, allowing it to be examined before signing. As a matter of process, Patrick’s base salary is not guaranteed after signing post-Week 1.
The addition’s corresponding move will be known later on Wednesday.
The Commanders have struggled to find interior depth, especially at the center spot. Nick Allgretti missed significant time this summer with a calf strain, and Julian Good-Jones (now on the practice squad) and rookie Matt Gulbin clearly weren’t ready to assume starter’s duties.
Patrick is an established pro, but we’ll have to see how he fits and what he’s able to contribute once he works into the Commanders culture and position group. Odds seem great that he’ll be the top reserve at center and both guard spots when he can get up to speed.
