
A recent “Island Voices” column makes a strong case for clean energy based on its cost advantage over fossil fuels (“Fossil fuels drive our high cost of living,” Star-Advertiser, Jan. 25). Clean energy also has the advantage of cost stability. Utilities’ power purchase agreements for electricity from renewables are largely fixed-price agreements, as opposed to agreements for oil-generated electricity, which expose ratepayers to price fluctuations in the global market.
