Soon after the word spread about the shooting in Minneapolis Saturday, an emergency protest was called near the Embarcadero.
People showed up carrying signs. They call it an emergency action, and for some, it was to mourn and demand change and stand in solidarity with the people of Minneapolis who have been protesting and calling for an end to federal immigration actions and confrontations that have occurred there.
The demonstration came together quickly after a federal agent fatally shot 37-year-old Alex Jeffrey Pretti in Minneapolis.
Some also had signs with the name of Renee Good.
“What’s happening in Minneapolis is really heartbreaking and I want to stand with them, it brings up so many feelings to see how people are being treated and ICE has got to get out of our cities, I don’t know if anything can change without people standing up and speaking up for what is right and what we believe in,” said Kim of San Francisco.
People said it was devastating to learn about the deadly shooting involving a federal agent in Minneapolis, and some groups said they were standing with the people of Minneapolis, who many have not gone to work or school or closed shops in protest.
