So long as the city's retail/dining economy is among the weakest in Colorado, our City Council can't fund its way out of a wet paper bag. "We make do" has been the financial strategy for decades. That means cutting corners everywhere-- from ADA to police discipline to heavy maintenance at the Beck Rec Center.
There's about $45 million/year in additional sales tax revenue just stting on the table waiting for a city council that can focus on coming together on a serious retail/dining strategy. Note I said "serious strategy" -- not the recently approved resolution which is expected to have NO impact on city revenue.
That's right. Aurora's new retail strategy literally isn't expected to impact the level sales tax collections. Talk about setting a low bar.
BTW I should mention that I'm disabled after suffering a serious brain injury in 2015. Civic engagement has been very effective cognitive therapy. Thank you.
