January is a gourmand’s favorite month, or one of them, for that’s when a bouquet of Restaurant Weeks blooms across California.

One stand-out celebration, an eatery-focused festivity that lasts for just over a week, takes place in Southern California as the first month concludes: Long Beach Black Restaurant Week.

The delicious and deal-fun happening is heading into its fourth festive outing in 2026, but the appetizing goal remains steadfast: Long Beach Black Restaurant Week “… is a medium to bring everyone to the table, from all walks of life, to showcase the city’s diverse Black food scene.”

A variety of classic African recipes, Caribbean cuisine, and African American dishes are in flavorful focus during the nine-day dining spectacular.

Booka’s Nana Pudding, The Cultured Soul, Hustleboy BBQ, and Georgia’s are all participating in the Jan. 23-31 happening; some spotlight dishes are listed on the Long Beach Black Restaurant Week site, but diners should also stop by their treasured local spots, or the new-to-them places they’ve been wanting to try, to check out the Restaurant Week menu or dishes.

Braised Short Ribs, Creole Jumbo Shrimp, specialty pizzas, yummy puddings, combo plate specials, and other delights are among the 2026 gourmet goodies.

“We are thrilled to be bringing back Long Beach Black Restaurant Week for year four after the first three years of success,” stated Qiana Mafnas, organizer and Executive Chef of Axiom Kitchen.

“This event is a great way to get the names of other Black-owned restaurants and food businesses and out there and invite food lovers from all walks of life through their doors.”

Find the full list of local food favorites, what’s on the menu, and how to show your support at these delicious destinations by visiting the Long Beach Black Restaurant Week site.
