Three people were killed in Phelan, San Bernardino County Friday following a head-on collision involving two cars, officials said.
The San Bernardino County Fire Department said it received a call at around 6:55 a.m. about a crash involving a Tesla and a Cadillac SUV on Palmdale Road near Highway 18.
The impact of the crash caused the vehicles catch fire, fire officials said.
When first responders arrived at the scene, three people in the cars suffered fatal injuries.
The identifies of the victims were not immediately available.
“This is not an uncommon situation,” a fire officials told NBC Los Angeles Monday.
As the investigation into the crash continued, officials did not say which car was going the wrong way.
