Game notes

  • After their brief road trip ended with a shellacking in Dallas, things don’t get any easier for the Bruins as the first-place Vegas Golden Knights come to town.
  • While Vegas is first in the Pacific, they’re actually only two points better than the Bruins in the standings (albeit with two fewer games played), perhaps an indicator of the overall weakness of the Pacific this season. To illustrate: the Ottawa Senators are last in the Atlantic with 53 points, a total that would be good for 3rd in the Pacific.
  • Many people (not really) are calling this the RASMUS ANDERSSON REVENGE BOWL, with the former Calgary defenseman landing with the Golden Knights last weekend after reportedly being close to heading to Boston.
  • Andersson didn’t suit up for Vegas in their Monday night loss to Philadelphia, reportedly due to immigration/paperwork issues. He may be available tonight, but given the current state of affairs in the U.S., there could be further delays.
  • Perennial future Bruin Jack Eichel has been the leader for the Golden Knights this season, producing at a 1.4 PPG pace. Eichel has 3G-8A-11PTS totals in his last five games.
  • After leaving Toronto over the summer, it took Mitch Marner some time to get going in Vegas. However, he eventually found his game and is currently producing at slightly more than a point-per-game pace. His 51 points would lead the Maple Leafs, if you want to laugh.
  • Both teams come into this game on the backs of streak-busting losses. Vegas’s loss to Philly on Monday night ended a seven-game winning streak, while the B’s flopped in Dallas to end a six-game streak.
  • Former Bruin Jeremy Lauzon is now plying his trade out in Vegas, where he as 0G-8A-8PTS totals in 34 appearances this season.
  • The Bruins lost Vladislav Kolyachonok to a waiver claim from Dallas on Wednesday afternoon, a full-circle moment as the B’s originally claimed him off waivers from Dallas. SYMMETRY.
  • The B’s also returned defenseman Billy Sweezey to Providence on Wednesday.

See ya tonight!
