As two teenagers continue to recover at the hospital after being shot in Opa-locka, four suspects were arrested, police said on Wednesday.

Santana Britton, 19, is facing several charges, including attempted first-degree murder and battery with a deadly weapon, while Johnathan Hodges, 20, was charged as an accessory and criminal solicitation.

The other two suspects are minors, and their charges were not released.

According to Opa-locka Police, on Tuesday, officers responded to reports of gunfire at Sailboat Cove, a gated neighborhood in the area of 1800 Northwest 142nd Lane.

An arrest report said the two teens were found inside a home and were both suffering from gunshot wounds. They were treated at the scene and then they were airlifted to the hospital in critical but stable condition.

At the scene, officers found 11 spent shell casings and a live round inside the home, the report said.

An officer who was on his way to the home, the report said, saw a green Chevrolet Impala fleeing the area at a high speed and driving erratically. The Chevrolet was then stopped, and Hodges, who was the driver, was detained.

When the two victims were interviewed at the hospital, one of them told detectives that he was on the first floor of the home when he heard a knock on the door, and when the other teen went to open the door, he heard gunshots, the report said. He said he saw Britton firing more shots, and he was struck, and then ran back to the second floor and yelled for his family to call police.

The second victim, who answered the door, told detectives that when he realized he was shot, he ran to the second floor of the home for safety, the report said.

During the incident, the report said, there was a witness who was also at the home who heard the knock at the door and saw a masked person who started firing shots. The witness ran for safety and was not injured.

After being taken into custody, Hodges told detectives that he walked around the back of the home and saw several people through a clear sliding glass door, and saw Britton holding two guns in each hand.

An investigation into the shooting remains active.
