NJ woman accused of stealing $25,000 from middle school PTO, officials say

A New Jersey woman is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from a middle school’s Parent Teacher Organization where she was working as the treasurer for the group, according to the East Windsor Township Police Department.

On Oct. 7, 2025, it was reported to police that about $10,000 was missing from the bank account for the Melvin H. Kreps Middle School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), officials said.

Police explained that the discrepancy was found between the official bank statement and financial statements that were submitted by the organization’s former treasurer who was identified as 47-year-old Allison Schneider.

Investigators said that they found Schneider opened a separate bank account where she allegedly deposited money from PTO fundraisers starting in 2021 until 2024.

Schneider allegedly used the money meant for the PTO for her own personal purchases, police said.

Officials explained that, in total, about $25,000 was stolen from the PTO.

Schneider went to the East Windsor Township Police Department on Monday, Jan. 19 where she was handed a complaint summons pending court action.

Schneider was charged with theft in the third degree.
