Pa. woman allegedly left sleeping baby in her car while she shopped at Walmart

A Pennsylvania woman was arrested after being accused of leaving her baby in a car while she shopped at Walmart, according to the Warrington Township Police Department.

Officers were called to a Walmart store after a customer reported that there was a baby sleeping in the front seat of a parked car in the parking lot, police said.

According to investigators, 42-year-old Tina Chiara DeCarla drove into the store’s parking lot around 3:49 p.m. on Jan. 10 before getting out of the car and walking into the Walmart around 3:55 p.m.

A customer who was nearby called police and reported that there was an infant sleeping in an improper restraint in the front seat of a car, officials explained.

Then, around 4:16 p.m., DeCarla came back to her car where the other customer asked her to stay until police got there, officials said.

DeCarla is accused of driving away before the police could get to the parking lot.

Days later on Jan. 16, DeCarla was arrested at a home in Warminster, police said.

Officials discovered that DeCarla also had an active warrant from the Bucks County Detectives.

Bail was set for DeCarla at $100,000, or 10% cash for each case.

DeCarla was ordered to work with the Bucks County Children and Youth Services and she cannot have any contact with her 4-month-old child.

Since she was not able to post bail, she was taken to the Bucks County Correctional Facility.
