Dog wounded when another dog's owner opens fire at Hollywood El Pollo Loco

A dog was shot in the neck by the owner of another dog after an apparent attack Saturday inside a Hollywood El Pollo Loco, the LAPD told NBC4 Investigates.

Officers responded at about 2 p.m. to the restaurant near Vine Street and Fountain Avenue. A customer was paying at the counter when her dog got away and attacked a dog who had just entered the business with its owner, who pulled out a gun, police said.

The man opened fire, striking the dog in the neck, the LAPD said. The dog suffered a graze wound that was not considered life threatening.

The shooter left the scene.

Police investigating the shooting are looking for video of the altercation and possible witnesses. Anyone with information was asked to call the LAPD Hollywood Station at 213-972-2971.
