Two Blazers Earn Consideration for NBA Player of the Week

No Deni Avdija? No problem. At least you wouldn’t think so from the Portland Trail Blazers’ response to Avdija missing three of four games this week due to injury. Not only have the Blazers won three in a row, two of their players—Shaedon Sharpe and Donovan Clingan—earned consideration for NBA Player of the Week. When the star goes down, somebody else steps up.

The NBA announced the news on X today:

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander won Western Conference Player of the Week. Miami Heat big man Bam Adebayo took the honor for the Eastern Conference.

Sharpe averaged 23.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 31 minutes per game over the four-game span under consideration for the award. Clingan averaged 13.8 points and 12.3 rebounds in 28.5 minutes per game while shooting 53% from the floor.
