We could have a chance to see the northern lights in Connecticut on Monday night.
The Space Weather Prediction Center issued a severe geomagnetic storm watch for late Monday and into Tuesday morning.
The watch was issued after the agency detected a coronal mass ejection on Sunday. A coronal mass ejection is an eruption of solar material and magnetic fields from the surface of the sun.
The aurora could be visible as far south as Alabama, according to the agency.
The solar material could also cause some temporary disruptions in communication infrastructure across the globe.
The best way to see the northern lights is to go somewhere dark away from light polution, such as street lights.
The Space Weather Prediction Center said conditions will weaken on Tuesday evening, the the potential for some northern lights activity will remain for tomorrow night as well.
