After a hectic 2025 summer transfer window, Bayern Munich’s honorary president Uli Hoeneß publicly revealed he advised Max Eberl to get his transfers done sooner. As demeaning as that may have been, Eberl is seemingly on his way to doing just that, with a lot of leg work reportedly being done already on certain targets. One of those targets is Feyenoord right back Givairo Read, who Bild reporter Christian Falk, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, believes is a priority target for the Bavarians:
Givairo Read is at the top of Bayern’s list for the right-back position in the summer. Should the move through, Josip Stanišić would then be deployed at centre-back more often. And since Read can also play at left-back, Bayern are no longer looking for a player for this position.
Still, despite Bayern wanting to sign the player, @iMiaSanMia captures Falk’s follow up report that Die Rekordmeister wish to wait until the summer to get him:
Bayern are in contact with Givairo Read’s management with a view to a move in the summer. The player’s management has promised that should an English club make a move for him this month, they would inform Bayern in order to be active. But as of now, the plans with Read are for the summer.
So why not sign Read now? After all, Bayern’s current right back options- Konrad Laimer, Josip Stanišić, Sacha Boey- are all out through injury or illness.
First of all, the former duo should be back within around a month. Then Bayern would carry four right backs in the squad for another 3 months after that. It could be difficult to keep them happy.
Second of all, and much more importantly, Read is also injured (something something Bayern DNA haha funny joke). He recently aggravated a hamstring injury, with an early prognosis ruling him out until March. Yeah, that rather halts any transfer momentum, does it not?
